difficulty in reasoning.

Most difficult? I’d say reasoning by analogy was the most difficult for me to understand. I had to read through the definition of it on Wiki a few times and read other peoples’ entries on it to get the gist of it. What I learned from reading other peoples’ entries on this is that it’s comparing two things and both of them have to have the same conclusion in order for it to be considered an analogy. I think it was difficult to understand because I couldn’t really find a straightforward example on it. Not only that, but I couldn’t really think of one to write about at the time. After one night of letting all the info about it sink in, I think I got it down.

One example I came up with to help me understand this concept was this:

Music is said to be an amazing stress reliever. If all students learn how to play an instrument, they’ll be less stressed out about whatever is in their lives.

Music is a stress reliever. Students are stressed beyond their limits. You put these two things together and you have a positive outcome.

  1. Hey there!
I really like your blog post! I as well had trouble trying to figure out what reasoning by analogy was! I had searched on multiple websites and read other people’s blogs trying to figure it out. I felt that all of them said the same confusing thing over and over. In the end I came up with a similar definition in comparison to yours! A comparison that becomes an argument when one side gives a conclusion and the other side backs up the conclusion. I was basically able to figure out what it was through examples that I had read! I liked your example because it really pointed out what reasoning by analogy is!
    Anyways, have a nice day!

  2. Hello CVGOTSOUL,

Very awesome post! I totally agree with you reasoning with analogy was very hard to understand. The wiki definition did not help me at all. It did not make sense to me no matter how many times I read it. I had to do research with other sites in order for me to understand the concept. But yeah, very good post. The example was very good also. I agree with you that music relieves stress. I wouldn't be playing it but I love listening to piano playing music. It really does make my college life less stressful! :] GREAT JOB! Keep up the great job!
